The flower composition was inspired by the painting of a Flemish master, dating back to the 17th century.\u00a0 The Flemish still lives of that time are full of symbols and suggestions: the blooming flowers speak of the transience of life and the impermanence of beauty, while small insects such as butterflies and caterpillars are omens of decline. Yet the composition is exuberant, lively, plentiful.<\/p>\n

\"Quadro<\/a>While the picture that inspired us is interesting for its content, our majolica stands out for its manufacture. A\u00a0 large ceramic panel (49 cm c 61 cm) was glazed by sprinkling.\u00a0 Then, the flowerscomposition was traced out with coal powder, dusted over a pierced transparent paper sheet, on which it had been drawn.\u00a0 The flowers were painted by applying\u00a0 mineral colors with small brushes,\u00a0 layer by layer, until the strokes reached the consistency of oil colors. Before firing, it was sprayed with the crystalline, which makes the final surface shiny.\u00a0 The firing at 950\u00b0c made its colours brilliant, intense, and lively.<\/p>\n

Finally, a beautiful hand made frame, manufactured by a skilled craftman, enhances this work of art.<\/p>\n
