The social, economic and political achievements of women are celebrated, and at the same time awareness is raised about the discrimination and violence of which they are still victims today.<\/p>\n\n<p>Women&#8217;s Day is also the moment in which every man, child, colleague pays homage to his woman, mother, connects with a sprig of <strong>mimosa<\/strong>, according to an all-Italian tradition born in 1946.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"la-festa-della-donna-nella-ceramica-di-faenza\">Women&#8217;s Day in Faenza ceramics<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"643\" height=\"429\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lavecchiafaenza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/piatto-bella-donna-faenza-643x429.jpg\" alt=\"Bella Donna di Faenza plate, Melograno and Garofano ceramic butterflies and mimosa\" class=\"wp-image-5760\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lavecchiafaenza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/piatto-bella-donna-faenza-643x429.jpg 643w, https:\/\/www.lavecchiafaenza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/piatto-bella-donna-faenza-315x210.jpg 315w, https:\/\/www.lavecchiafaenza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/piatto-bella-donna-faenza-180x120.jpg 180w, https:\/\/www.lavecchiafaenza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/piatto-bella-donna-faenza-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lavecchiafaenza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/piatto-bella-donna-faenza.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 643px) 100vw, 643px\" \/><\/figure>\n<!--more-->\n\n<p>Women&#8217;s Day has been celebrated for just over a century, but the Faenza ceramic tradition has paid homage to women since the fifteenth century with the &#8220;<strong>Belle Donne<\/strong>&#8221; (Beautiful Women): portraits of attractive and lavishly dressed young people, sometimes accompanied by the name followed by the adjective &#8220;Bella&#8221; .<\/p>\n\n<p>These portraits, still in vogue in traditional Faenza ceramics, were mainly made on <strong>ornamental plates<\/strong>, but also on vases and other majolica objects. The Belle Donne were then given by the man to his beloved, usually to <strong>celebrate the marriage union<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"643\" height=\"429\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lavecchiafaenza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/piatto-fuseruola-ceramica-643x429.jpg\" alt=\"Bella Donna plate and spindles in Belle Donne, another traditional gift was represented by the <strong>fuseruola<\/strong>(or fusaiola), small, finely decorated rounded discs that are believed to be used in the textile business, but also as ornamental pendants or necklace beads.<\/p>\n\n<p>To these objects of the ceramic tradition of Faenza we have added the creation of finely decorated <strong>ceramic butterflies<\/strong>,
