Two ceramists of Romagna in Montemerano
Laura Silvagni and Lidia Conti have been friends for many years and often spend holidays in the baths at Saturnia, staying in the charming village of Montemerano.
The picturesque medieval village of Montemerano was built around 1200 by the Aldobrandeschi family on top of the hill, and still is well preserved, especially in the historical center. Here, in the small piazza within the walls, there are small venues that host craft activities, herbs, gastronomies, in simplicity, enveloping the visitor in an ancient atmosphere.
It is in this context that ceramicist Laura and Lydia with her grandmother’s collection of lace, have organized an exhibition, the result of the passions of a lifetime. They show hand-painted ceramic art, a nice big plate with the brim painted in red, Pavona style dishes, a group of ceramics decorated in Raffaellesche style, pharmacy jars with names of the herbs and small ceramic animals.
Lydia collects antique fabrics, old laces, curtains worked filet, embroidery on linen, blouses, dresses that recall the era of our grandmothers. The exhibition recalls a setting of the past.
The exhibition will remain open throughout the summer and at the village fete (26-27-28 August 2011) demonstrations of work will be carried out in thepiazza.
